Lynn VerLayne, originally from Belgium, started singing at age 10 and went on studying piano, theory and classical voice. “My teacher really encouraged me to continue in that field. Instead, I came to New York, 20 years old, with two suitcases and started writing rock music.”

She didn’t have a piano so she borrowed the Steinway that once belonged to Rachmaninoff and that was donated to the Columbia Medical School after his death. “I knew someone there who sneaked me in every morning, as I wasn’t supposed to use it as a non-student”

Lynn has been playing shows acoustically and put together a full band which led to performances at venues such as the Bitter End and CBGB's, and a self-produced album. “I love well structured simple tunes that are all about the melody. I’m inspired by artists such as Aerosmith, Blondie, Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, Nirvana, Dido as well as Carly Simon.”
